We’re Your BC Utilities Commission Advocates

The BC Utilities Commission is a regulatory agency responsible for maintaining the safe and fair distribution of energy in the province. The Commission regulates the electrical power networks, and power generation, as well as natural gas distribution networks.

We will advocate on behalf of companies and public utilities in front of the BC Utilities Commission on a full range of applications that must be heard before the commission including:

  • Power Project Applications
  • Interconnection Applications
  • System Extension Application
  • Rate Methodology Application
  • Revenue Requirements Application
  • Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity Application (Utility Application)
  • Gas Delivery Rate Increase Application
  • Application for Exemption to Part 3 of the Utilities Commission Act
  • Order Reconsideration Applications

For members of the public who may be affected by a decision of the BC Utilities Commission, a process is available for the members to become interested parties in a decision or interveners. Additionally, the BC Utilities Commission will hear complaints from members of the public about public utilities (E.g. BC Hydro, FortisBC, etc.).

Lawyers at ATAC Law will advocate for members of the public who wish to complain about a utility for unfair practices, and for interested parties and interveners in BC Utilities Commission hearings.
