Profile

Raymond Jin is an associate lawyer at ATAC Law, with a focus on civil litigation, commercial litigation, family law, estate litigation, and residential tenancy disputes.

He has represented clients before both the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Provincial Court of British Columbia.

In addition to his litigation work, Raymond also assists clients with a range of solicitor-side matters, including drafting marriage agreements, separation agreements, business contracts, shareholder agreements, and wills.

Before joining ATAC Law, Raymond worked for many years as a professional journalist in Asia, Europe and North America, traveling extensively. This background enhances his ability to communicate effectively with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Raymond has also provided free legal assistance to clients through the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program and Access Pro Bono.

He is fluent in Mandarin and English, and has working knowledge of Cantonese.

Succeeded in recovering over $200,000 in unused prepaid funds for an estate executor and compelling a senior care facility to produce full accounting records, preventing loss to the estate.

Succeeded in reducing a franchise-related commercial claim from $116,000 to approximately $46,000, preserving the restaurant business’s commercial standing.

Succeeded in proving that disputed funds in an immigration service-fee case were voluntary gifts, obtaining nearly $60,000 for the client through legal process.

Succeeded in enforcing a long-overdue divorce agreement for a client, prompting the former spouse to complete mortgage transfer, title registration, and a $200,000 payment.

Succeeded in obtaining approximately $50,000 in common-law compensation for an employee in a wrongful dismissal matter—substantially exceeding the statutory minimum for notice pay.

Succeeded in securing approximately $200,000 for a client in a dispute involving a property registered in another party’s name but fully financed by the client, through legal process.

Succeeded in obtaining nearly $40,000 in compensation for a client in a dispute involving an immigration consultancy’s failure to perform contracted services, and in stopping the improper conduct.

Succeeded in obtaining the right for a client to sell a jointly owned $3.5 million property and retain approximately $2.3 million of the proceeds through legal process.
