Are You A Physician in BC Seeking Legal Advice?

Are You A British Columbia Physician Seeking Legal Advice? The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is responsible for regulating the practice of medicine in BC under authority of provincial statutes. A person must be registered with the College in order to practice medicine in the province.

The College administers processes for responding to complaints from patients and for taking action if a physician is practising in a manner that is incompetent, unethical or illegal. The College also administers a number of quality assurance activities to ensure physicians remain competent throughout their professional lives.

As a physician, you may be subject to complaints made to the College by your patients that could severely affect your livelihood and ability to practice medicine. Some of the actions the College can take include practice reviews, restrictions on practicing and revocation of your license to practice medicine. Should you receive a notice from the College of an investigation of a complaint, you should obtain legal advice. ATAC LAW has experience successfully representing physicians before the College.

Mike C. Stewart, P.Eng worked for a major law firm British Columbia that defends doctors in medical malpractice lawsuits and Dan H. Griffith has extensive experience in winning administrative law cases.
